Mr. C Q K Mustaq Ahmed brings over four decades of distinguished leadership in public service, regulatory governance, and corporate stewardship.
He began his career in the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1981, serving in senior leadership roles across key ministries, including Senior Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs; Senior Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture; Secretary, Bridges Division; and Secretary, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. He retired from government service in 2015 as Senior Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Following his civil service career, Mr. Ahmed was appointed the founding Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) — the independent regulatory body overseeing auditing, accounting, and actuarial practices of banks, financial institutions, corporates, and public interest entities in Bangladesh. Under his leadership, FRC established itself as the principal regulator for professionals including Chartered Accountants, Cost and Management Accountants, Actuaries, and Valuers.
Mr. Ahmed holds a B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. in Economics from the University of Dhaka, and has completed advanced leadership and executive programs at the Harvard Kennedy School (USA), University of Birmingham (UK), Civil Service College Singapore, and International Academy for Leadership, Cologne (Germany).
In his diverse career, he has also served as Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau; First Secretary, Bangladesh High Commission London; Private Secretary to the Speaker of Parliament; Deputy Commissioner, Narayanganj; and held senior positions in the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Finance (ERD), and several other ministries.
He has contributed to governance and development through board roles at Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Karma Sangsthan Bank, Social Development Foundation (SDF), Bangladesh NGO Foundation, and served six years as Independent Director at Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh Ltd.
With extensive international exposure, Mr. Ahmed has represented Bangladesh across more than 45 countries worldwide.
Currently, in addition to his role as Chairman of Prime Bank Investment PLC (PBIL), he is also
an Independent Director of Prime Bank PLC.
