Mr. Anwaruddin Chowdhury, FCA, is a distinguished financial management specialist with over three decades of experience across corporate, financial services, and development sectors. He served as an Independent Director on the Board of Prime Bank PLC, where he was the Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Risk Management Committee.
He is a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and served as a Council Member for 21 years, contributing significantly to the profession’s growth. He was also the founding Managing Director of the Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh and a founding Partner of ACNABIN, one of the country’s leading accountancy firms.
Internationally, Mr. Chowdhury has held leadership roles in regional and global professional bodies, including serving as Director of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) for two terms, Chair of the CAPA PSFM Committee, and Technical Advisor to the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Board. Since 2016, he has been a member of the IFAC IPSASB Consultative Advisory Group (CAG).
A recognized thought leader, he has consulted for the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, DFID (UK), and other agencies, and has authored and presented numerous papers on accounting, governance, sustainability, and financial sector reform at international conferences. He has also served on the UNCTAD ISAR Task Force for SME Reporting and chaired UN ISAR’s first Workshop on Corporate Governance in Geneva.
